LIving in a pagan society as Christians

John 15:19 “19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." What does this mean Living in a Pagan Society as Christians? In our current political climate, many Christians are more familiar with the Republican Party’s message than the gospel message of Jesus Christ. Same with Christians who are more familiar with the Democratic party. I'm not here to talk politics. Just using it as an example.

God’s people live in a world and age that is a sea of pagan and humanistic values. There has been eroded over the years to take God out, and look what we see today -- A country hating Christians today! Just as the Muslims hate the Jews. It is not popular to profess as a Conservative in which the world relates Conservatives as Christians or Christians. How do we live in a society that is eroding in values and character? Let’s look at the Book of Daniel. It is no different today; the ways of God and the ways of the world are in opposition to one another. During Jesus' time, they were under the rule of Rome, waiting for the Messiah to take over the government. Isn’t that kind of how the church is today? They were caught up in the world. Another Scripture I want to share: 1 John 2:15-16 says, "Love not the world, nor the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world."

Are you caught up in the flesh, wanting riches and comfort? Do we hear prosperity messages? Has the church made a difference in our society today, reaching the lost and being the real church, or has it been caught up in prosperity and measuring their Christian Faith in money? I say this since I've been to many third-world countries that love the Lord even if they cannot eat that day. As I said earlier, throughout the Bible, the saints have had to deal with these issues. Let’s look at Daniel and the other men’s lives in the book of Daniel. America / Israel First, want to touch on how Daniel ended up in Exile in a pagan country. One, Israel set itself up for failure when it tried to be like the rest of the world by having kings instead of God. Isn’t that what is happening today? Isn’t America trying to be like everyone else by becoming socialist vs. capitalist? What is socialism? How about pushing unipolarity vs. multipolarity? We all have to be the same. Throw out your traditions. Socialism what is it? Socialism is the social, economic, political, and spiritual system of Secular Humanism, and it was founded in the Garden of Eden. The founder, Satan, wrote their constitution when he said, "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof (of the forbidden fruit), then you eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." (Rev. 3:5)

Secular Humanists believe they are their god and have decided what is good and evil. As the Bible says, they call good evil and evil good. We are seeing this today. In short, Liberals are Socialists, Socialists are Secular Humanists, and Secular Humanism is an antichrist system. In the same token, some conservatives or Christians overlook something that has become common - divorce. Socialists are always for big governments, higher taxes, and pro-abortion and pro-euthanasia, like in Canada. Look at the majority of European nations today! Taken one step further, Socialism is by nature anti-Christ and anti-American. Therefore, we Christians must teach the truth about the enemy of the faith and counter their lies. Every country that has socialism does not have the freedom to worship God.

Liberals often sling mud at Conservatives and Evangelical Christians, comparing us to Hitler and the Nazi party. Yet, the truth is that Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin were all Socialists. The word Nazi is an acronym for "National Socialist Party," Fascist is an acronym for "Federal Socialist Party," and the USSR stood for the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics." Talk about being mean-spirited, and it is the very nature of Socialist states to oppress the masses. Why are we moving in this direction? If the antichrist is to come to earth, then the world has to be a socialistic body moving away from God. Don’t you think? These are dangerous times. Some of you are asking if there is anything you can do? My answer to you is not really, the book has been written, and God is allowing this to happen. Remember, Jesus wins in the end. Daniel Living in a Pagan Society as a Jew

In 1 Peter 2:11-12 it says: "Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. 12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us." Let's look at four men in the bible who lived in a socialistic pagan culture as our example of living. These four men are in the book of Daniel.

These four men, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, are examples of people submitting to the foreign government's laws unless it require disobedience to God. Daniel did not try to form a large group of politically active captives, refusing to eat the king’s food. Daniel worked with the governing authorities, not against them. He did not choose between two seemingly conflicting absolutes. Daniel did not stop trying after the first failed attempt. These four men also provide examples where obedience to God may cause disobedience to the government. When Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah refused to worship an idol, it was obedience to God but not to the government. When Daniel refused to stop worshipping God for one month, his concern was God, not the government. Both situations contain the issue of obedience to God over that of government. They did not rebel due to their rights or honor but God’s. They accepted the punishment due to their disobedience to the governing authorities. They did not fight the consequences but willingly submitted to the government, even when the government requested disobedience to God. Daniel continued working with the authorities to secure a peaceful solution that pleased God and the king. Daniel trusted God to work out the conclusion. His focus was neither on the government nor its laws but on obedience to God. However, later in the book of Daniel, we see that they were willing to obey God no matter the cost. With what is happening in our schools, there are times when parents should get involved to protect their children. Shouldn’t that be our attitude today? Is it worth getting upset about what is happening? Was capitalism God’s perfect government? No, not at all. Let's draw the line in the sand and choose Christ. When it comes to elections, pray and allow the Lord to show you who to vote for. When it comes to things happening in your city, pray. Prayer is powerful. In Philippians 3:20 it says,

"But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body."
