How to walk in the glory of God

The Glory of the Lord: How to Walk in the Glory of God and Maintain It Daily

Watch Video: Recorded May 21, 2025, during the Prayer of Intercession on Facebook Group - Short Video - Join us on Tuesday nights at 10:00 p.m.

Throughout the Bible, we catch powerful glimpses of the glory of God—radiant, holy, and life-changing. When Ezekiel encountered this glory, he wrote:

“Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around... and when I saw it, I fell on my face...”— Ezekiel 1:28

This awe-filled response is consistent throughout Scripture. When God revealed His glory to Moses (Exodus 33–34) and Elijah (1 Kings 19), it overwhelmed them. Isaiah, too, in chapter 6, cried out in reverence when he saw the Lord:

“Woe is me! For I am undone... for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”

Whenever God’s glory appears, it brings us to our knees in worship, humility, and surrender.

(Daniel 7, 10). These aren’t just stories—they are real encounters with the living God.

And He still reveals Himself today—through His Word, dreams, visions, and a tangible awareness of His presence. Sometimes He speaks, commissions, or simply overwhelms us with His love. But one thing is clear: we must learn to remain in His presence.

How to Stay in the Glory of God

Just as Israel followed the cloud by day and fire by night, we are called to keep our eyes on the Lord. That means staying in the secret place—free from distractions—and becoming attuned to His voice.

We are pilgrims in this world. Jesus says, “Learn of Me.” The more we know Him, the more consistently we experience His glory. Daily worship, even in small moments, keeps us anchored in His presence.

Let Him lead. Don’t move until He does. Like Elijah, wait for the still small voice. In those quiet moments, God often does His deepest work.

Transformation by His Spirit

The Holy Spirit lives within every believer, transforming us from the inside out. He prunes us—removing old mindsets, habits, and distractions that hinder His glory from flowing freely.

Sometimes, wisdom looks like waiting. Don’t act from the flesh; seek God’s mind on the matter. Whether He prompts you to speak, encourage, or intercede—His Spirit knows what you don’t.

When He moves, new realms open. Mysteries are revealed. Peace replaces confusion. But only if you’re listening with your heart—not just your ears.

Learning to Hear God’s Voice

God is still speaking—just as He did to Samuel. The young prophet had to be taught how to respond:

“Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”

We must do the same. He speaks through His Word, His Spirit, and sometimes with a quiet “knowing” in our inner being.

I often ask Him questions, and He answers—through Scripture, visions, or subtle impressions. He wants to speak to you too.

Understanding Prophecy Through Scripture and History

Understanding the historical context of biblical prophecy unlocks deeper meaning. For example, Daniel’s vision of the leopard with four heads pointed to the division of Greece after Alexander the Great. One of those rulers, Antiochus Epiphanes, desecrated the temple—a shadow of the Antichrist to come.

History gives us clarity as we study prophecy and discern God’s unfolding plan.

Walking in Power, Purpose, and Gifts

The more we yield to the Spirit, the more God empowers us. When darkness covers the land, God raises prophetic voices. Elijah performed eight miracles; Elisha—who carried a double portion—performed sixteen.

When people cry out to God, the glory comes—but there is always a period of waiting first.

Spiritual gifts—like wisdom, prophecy, healing, and discernment—are given for the edification of others. When I’ve shared words of knowledge, people were set free by truths only they and God knew. That’s love in action.

You don’t need to be a prophet to hear from God. You just need to be willing.

Holiness Prepares You for His Glory

Esther didn’t walk into the king’s chamber unprepared. She waited, purified herself, and found favor. The same applies to us. Holiness invites His glory.

When you draw near to God, mysteries unfold. Suddenly, what once seemed hidden becomes revelation.

Final Thoughts: Stay Close, Stay Ready

Angels are standing by, ready to usher you into deeper glory. But it starts with worship, intimacy, and obedience.

As my wife Gayle and I often discuss, true worship invites His presence—and sometimes, you may even hear angels sing.

Challenge for Today

  • Get a journal.

  • After prayer, say: “Here I am, Lord. I’m listening.”

  • Write what He speaks.

  • Meditate on a verse. Ask Him to reveal its meaning.

  • Share what He shows you.

Bottom line: Stay close. Stay yielded. Let Him speak, shape, and send you.
