Walking Out Deliverance - Post Deliverance

Paul said, we are to 'work out' our salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12). In a similar way, we must understand that deliverance is not always a one-time isolated event. Deliverance brings a breakthrough, but freedom must be maintained through daily obedience, spiritual discipline, the renewing of the mind, and learning to stand in the authority of Jesus Christ. Establish a Support System: Surround yourself with a biblically-based, supportive faith community. Look for local, spirit-led churches or Bible studies to stay grounded. Short teaching, collaboration, prayer, and healing.
You must begin to win more victories in the battle of your mind! Post-deliverance, that portion of flesh and space between our ears is where the enemies of our soul will labor to reopen doors and gain entry. How well a person fares in this battle is crucially significant to the perceived effectiveness of deliverance. There are no demonic spirits behind every problem or issue in a person’s life, and we teach and preach that emphatically to clients and seminar attendees alike. Believers must learn to grow in discernment. We need to recognize when old patterns, thoughts, temptations, torment, or familiar emotional reactions are trying to pull us back into bondage. Like all spiritual gifts, discernment grows through teaching, practice, maturity, and use. Renewing the Mind: After deliverance, the mind becomes one of the enemy's main targets. The enemy will often try to reopen doors through thoughts, memories, old wounds, offenses, fear, anger, rejection, shame, or temptation. This is why renewing the mind is so important. The enemy can use unhealed memories, past sins, trauma, injustices, and painful experiences to stir up old reactions and tempt people to come back into agreement with bondage.
You must fill the house with the Presence of God! When a demonic spirit is driven out, the "house" (the person's soul) is left empty, swept clean, and put in order. If you leave the house vacant, the former tenant will return with even more wicked people. The only way to permanently occupy that space is by filling it with the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. A sovereign act of deliverance clears the land, but you must cultivate it.
You must close the doors of legal entry! Demons need a legal right or an opening to gain entry into a believer's life, often referred to as "doorways." Common doors include unforgiveness, unconfessed sin, bitterness, occult involvement, or trauma, and more. To stay free, you must identify what gave the spirit access in the first place and intentionally close that door. This often requires ongoing repentance, counseling, and the renewal of your mind. Jesus warned that when an unclean spirit goes out of a person, it may seek to return (Matthew 12:43; Luke 11:24). Without the first step of casting out the spirits, there is no true deliverance. Many people experience a great measure of freedom immediately after ministry, but then the battle begins to stay free.
You must stay anchored in the Body of Christ. Spiritual isolation is dangerous. Deliverance cannot be successfully walked out in a vacuum; it requires accountability, prayer, and a supportive church family. You need spiritual leaders and fellow believers to help you stand strong when the warfare gets intense.
Deliverance is a foundational step in discipleship. It is an essential component of the ongoing, daily process of sanctification and wholeness in Christ.
